Upcoming parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan discussed in the Spanish Senate

Madrid, Feb. 17, 2023 – Danat Musayev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, met with Antonio Gutierrez, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of Spain and Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in Madrid.
The parties discussed the agenda of bilateral parliamentary relations with an emphasis on the upcoming early elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 19, 2023.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan noted that the elections to the lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan are the logical conclusion of the cycle of political reforms initiated by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In particular, after the constitutional referendum and the presidential elections in 2022, as well as the elections to the Mazhilis this year, the country is entering a new era of its democratic development.
In turn, Antonio Gutierrez highly appreciated the internal political processes in our country and noted that as a Vice-Chairman of PACE, as well as a parliamentarian in general, he welcomes the political reforms of the head of Kazakhstan.
The two parties agreed to enhance their bilateral inter-parliamentary diplomacy. Daniyar Musayev accepted the invitation of Antonio Gutierrez to deliver speech at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Senate in the near future.
