Kazakhstan, Switzerland Interested in Boosting Inter-Parliamentary Ties

Bern, February 28, 2023 - Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov met with members of the Swiss-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary friendship group, which includes respected members of both houses of the Federal Assembly of the Confederation.
During the meeting Ambassador Sarzhanov informed the Swiss deputies in detail about the political and socio-economic reforms taking place in Kazakhstan. He stressed that the parliamentary elections scheduled for March 19, 2023 will be held under new, more fair and competitive rules for the formation of the representative branch of power.
The upcoming elections will be the final stage in the reboot of the state institutions of Kazakhstan and will fill the slogan "a strong President - influential Parliament - accountable Government" with real content.
The Swiss deputies highly appreciated the political progress of democratic transformations in Kazakhstan and expressed their admiration for the scale of reforms.
After the exchange of views on topical issues of the international agenda, the parties paid much attention to the development of Kazakhstan-Switzerland cooperation, including inter-parliamentary cooperation. In this context, participants of the meeting noted the importance of reciprocal visits, giving impulses to deepen bilateral ties.
