CEC Gave its Consent to General Prosecutor's Office to Hold Mazhilis Candidate Liable

March 3, 2023

The Central Election Commission gave its consent to the General Prosecutor's Office to hold a candidate for the Mazhilis liable.

"To give consent to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan to bring a candidate for the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan to administrative responsibility, according to the representation of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, submitted to the Central Election Commission," said the CEC resolution.

It is indicated that the CEC took a decision based on the submission of the Prosecutor General on the violation of the electoral law by a candidate for the Mazhilis of Parliament.

However, the document does not specify which candidate is being referred to. It should be mentioned that earlier the police of Almaty forcibly took home Aigerim Tleuzhanova, a candidate for the Mazhilis from the district election commission, who had been previously placed under house arrest, but then received her certificate as a candidate. Shortly before that she noted that she was covered by the immunity of a candidate for deputies of the Mazhilis.
