Nurlan Abdirov acquainted the observers from the IPA CIS with the main stages of the current electoral campaign for the election of deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will be held under the updated legislation.
In addition, the Chairman of the CEC informed the participants of the meeting about the results of the registration of party lists, the results of the draw, as well as the results of the registration of candidates for deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament elected in single-mandate territorial electoral districts.
In turn, the head of the delegation, the Secretary General of the IPA CIS Dmitry Kobitsky thanked for the meeting and noted that the formation of a Group of observers from the IPA CIS is currently underway. The plan is to have a group of at least 50 individuals, which will include parliament deputies from the CIS member states, Secretariat employees of the IPA CIS Council, and experts with specialized knowledge in the realm of electoral procedures.
He also said that Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Regional and Eurasian Integration Issues, Head of the Armenia-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group Vagharshak Hakobyan has been appointed coordinator of the IPA CIS Observer Group.
The delegation leader provided assurance that an international observer group from the IPA CIS will oversee the preparation and conduct of the early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan based on principles of political neutrality, impartiality, openness, and non-interference in the electoral process.
The IPA CIS representatives also asked about the issues of monitoring the coverage of the election campaign in the media, election financing, electoral training and ensuring the right of equality of participants in the election campaign.
Thorough responses were provided to all inquiries posed by the members of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In response, Nurlan Abdirov expressed gratitude to the delegation for their consistent participation in the international observation of elections in Kazakhstan, and emphasized that all requisite conditions would be established to facilitate the comprehensive and efficient operations of the observer group from the IPA CIS.
To date, 97 international observers from 11 states and 3 international organizations have been accredited.
